Containerized gas generator sets

Solution · Cogeneration (CHP) and natural gas generation · from 1 MW

Cogeneration: your own power plant, with no investment in it.

ENEGRIN finances, builds and operates cogeneration and natural gas power plants on the sites of large energy users in Mexico with 1 MW of demand or more and access to natural gas. You invest nothing and pay for the energy up to 15% below what CFE would charge you. If your process uses steam, hot water or cooling, we also put the engines’ heat to use. That is cogeneration, and your discount can be larger.

What you gain with your own power plant

Today your plant depends on CFE’s grid. With isolated self-consumption, it has its own grid, separated from CFE’s.

Cost of your energy

You pay whatever CFE or your supplier sets.

You pay less, every month

Your contract sets your savings percentage and how it adjusts with the price of gas. How your savings are calculated

Power quality

At client plants we have measured voltage spikes of up to +10% and sags of up to −15%. They damage motors, drives and electronics, and stop your lines.

Stable voltage and frequency

±1% voltage and 60 Hz ±0.2% frequency, guaranteed by contract and measured continuously.

Power outages

In 2023, 91% of industrial parks reported supply failures (AMPIP). Every outage costs you production.

You keep producing

A grid outage does not affect your production: the plant includes a standby engine and supply continuity is guaranteed by contract.

Growth

If CFE has no capacity for your load increase, or asks you for costly works, your growth stalls.

You grow without paying for works

If you need more load, we expand your power plant and the investment is ours. The 2025 Electricity Sector Law allows any large consumer to generate its own energy.

You save every month, for the entire contract

In many energy contracts with private companies, the price per kWh rises by a percentage every year, regardless of what CFE charges. After a few years, you can end up paying more than with CFE or your supplier. With ENEGRIN, by contract, you never pay more than you would have paid without the system.

We calculate what you would have paid

We use your actual consumption and that month’s tariffs, as if you did not have the system.

We apply your savings percentage

Your percentage and its gas-price adjustment are set in the contract. You pay what you would have paid, minus your savings.

You verify it on the Ollin Platform

The Ollin Platform shows you each month’s calculation, and any auditor can reproduce it.

How we measure your savings

A hybrid gas plant with BESS

A gas plant, with or without heat recovery, performs best close to its optimal load point. But your plant’s demand rises and falls throughout the day, so we integrate a BESS that absorbs the peaks. The engines then run close to maximum efficiency, last longer, and power quality is guaranteed by contract.

±1%

maximum voltage variation, guaranteed by contract

Up to 15%

less gas than cogeneration without a BESS, estimated based on how variable your load is: the more peaks in your load curve, the more the BESS contributes

This is achieved because the BESS keeps the generator sets producing constantly, at their maximum efficiency.

Engines’ optimal pointBESS dischargeBESS charging

The engines chase every peak and valley of demand: constant ramps, more wear and lower efficiency. When a load starts suddenly, the engines lag behind and frequency drops.

The engines hold a steady 2,700 kW, 90% of their capacity and their most efficient point. The BESS absorbs the peaks and swings. Higher efficiency, longer engine life and power quality guaranteed by contract. Illustrative example of one production hour with three 1 MW engines.

If your plant has no access to gas or draws less than 1 MW, an industrial BESS lowers your CFE bill without generating power.

What decision-makers ask before signing an energy contract

What do I pay?

Up to 15% below what CFE would charge you, and more if your process uses the heat.

You pay for the energy you receive (and the steam, heat or cooling, if applicable), at the discount set in the contract. You do not pay for the plant.

Who invests?

ENEGRIN finances the plant, or builds it for you if you prefer to own it.

It is built on your site. See both payment models

What about gas?

Your plant needs access to natural gas.

If you have access but no contract, we manage the supply. If you already have a contract, we work with your gas.

What if gas prices rise?

You still pay less than your tariff: the discount is set by contract against what CFE would charge you.

The contract sets how your discount adjusts if the price of gas changes, and after any adjustment you still pay less than CFE would charge you. Industrial electricity tariffs in Mexico also track the price of gas, so when gas rises, so does your tariff.

Isolated from CFE or connected?

We prefer isolated self-consumption: your plant has its own network, and we control voltage and frequency.

That way, power quality is guaranteed by contract. When it makes sense, we also do grid-connected self-consumption. What isolated self-consumption is

What if I need grid backup?

CFE or a qualified supplier remains as backup if you require it.

What if I want to go back to my utility?

You can. Your interconnection stays in place as backup while the plant operates.

When the contract ends, the choice is yours: extend it for an additional term, or return to your utility and pay its full tariff again, without the discount.

What happens if an engine fails?

The plant includes a standby engine and supply continuity is guaranteed by contract.

What power quality do I receive?

Stable voltage and frequency, guaranteed by contract.

For months before start-up, we measure the power you receive from CFE today. After that, a certified meter on our side measures it continuously, including harmonics.

Parameters for your engineer: Voltage regulation: ±1% in steady state. Frequency: 60 Hz ±0.2%. Stamford alternators with PMG excitation and 2/3-pitch winding. Measurement with a Class A power quality analyzer (IEC 61000-4-30) at the point of delivery, from months before start-up and continuously afterwards. It includes harmonic distortion (THD), which depends on the customer’s nonlinear loads.

Which permits are required?

Under Mexican law, generating the power you use on your own site is called self-consumption (autoconsumo, formerly abasto aislado).

From 0.7 MW, a generation permit from the CNE, Mexico’s National Energy Commission. For self-consumption plants of 0.7 to 20 MW, the Self-Consumption One-Stop Shop (Ventanilla Única de Autoconsumo) coordinates the filings and the CNE rules within a maximum of 30 business days. ENEGRIN handles the entire process. Industrial cogeneration guideSources: Electricity Sector Law (DOF, Mar 18, 2025) and Guidelines for the Self-Consumption One-Stop Shop (DOF, May 8, 2026).

What if my plant closes, is sold, or I want to end early?

The contract covers this from day one.

If the plant is sold, the contract can be assigned to the new owner. If it closes or you decide to end early, a settlement agreed at signing applies. The exact terms come with your proposal.

Who stands behind such a long contract?

The Córdova Group, with industrial engineering since 1987, and our international group stand behind every ENEGRIN contract.

If your plant draws 1 MW or more and has access to gas, let’s talk.
